I've got myself an echocardiogram..finally. Not for any special purpose..for peace of mind maybe. I used to have fingers clubbing and a little bit cyanosed nail colours..which caused me to be repeatedly questioned/ advised/ reminded why I didn't check my heart for any cyanotic congenital heart disease. Beside frens, i think there are total of 3 specialists who asked me to do so:
First was my lecturer, a chest physician. He was fairly surprised by my nails and straightaway tested my SPO2. Happened to be only 95%. So he said, "You probably should go and get an echo."
Next was my HOD in medical posting, she spotted it like HouseMD during round, "Darren ur nails are clubbed, do u know that?" "Ya i know..it's cyanosed too." "Don't u think u should get an echo?" "Alright.." (still didn't hav the urge to do so)
Until the 3rd one, my orthopedic surgeon during round also, "OMG look at ur finger cyanosis! and clubbing also! Hav you checked whether u got CCHD? How could u never get an echo?!"
OK..based on everyone's concern, i should very much get this done.
Findings: Normal chamber sizes, good LVEF. No valvular lesions. NO ASD/VSD/PDA/Aortic coarctation.
Happy? Yes I am. At least now i can answer when i get asked again *grins*.
