I've finished my 4-month medical posting. Think I really enjoyed it. Some recollections:
1. I think the best thing in med is the weekly drug talk. There we'll be fed with fastfoods. HA. It's kinda funny to hear conversation like this on every wed, "What's today's drug talk about?""Hmm..i think it's KFC."
2. You know what's the most important thing before u do a digital rectal examination? Yes, check ur gloves. Be very careful as some are quite prone to rupture. No it happened to someone else..not me hehe.
3. To get to be a specialist too young is probably not a very good thing, sometimes. My specialist was asked by nurse, "Are you a new houseman?" a few times and what's more, he was asked to do blood-takin/ wardworks until they see his nametag "Pakar".
4. It's not uncommon to hav some staffs asking for MC with various reasons. Sometimes they tell "my bro's sick", or sometimes u'll hear the truth "My bro couldn't get up to work today." My advice: Never give or they'll come back a hundred times more.
5. Never underestimate how unpredictable a pt with frontal intracranial bleeding can behave. One second u see him on his bed, the next second u only see an empty bed with branula and urine catheter pulled out, and he's standing naked at the window there seeing views.
6. It's also quite common to see things that u'll never understand. The blood culture taken by one of my colleagues have repeatedly grown Staph epidermidis..and finally we found out the cause. Guess what he used to clean the skin? Normal saline.
And many many more...

i really do not think that giving water for injection is entirely ethical. Yes its not doing any harm but you are giving the patient a wrong impression i.e thinking it was some sort of miracle drug...
Good words.
